Furman Honick Client Awarded $175,000 in Baltimore City jury Verdict
Baltimore City Jury Awards Furman Honick Client $175,000 in Damages

On Wednesday, a Baltimore City jury returned a $175,000 verdict in favor of our client. Our client was a 28-year-old medical student at Johns Hopkins who suffered permanent soft tissue injuries after her car was struck by a runaway trailer as she was parallel parking outside of her home. The trailer detached from a Baltimore City-owned truck when the driver sped through an intersection and hit a bump.

The entire incident was captured on video, but Baltimore City ignored the video evidence and manufactured a defense out of thin air, claiming that an unknown driver hit the trailer, causing it to detach and hit our client. The City maintained this frivolous defense through trial and made no settlement offers.

The jury saw right through the City’s attempt to avoid responsibility and found the City liable for the damages it caused. Although our client had conservative medical treatment totaling approximately $2,000, her neck injury never fully resolved. The jury awarded $20,000 for her totaled vehicle and $155,000 for her pain and suffering.
